If you think the battery in your car is experiencing issues, the easiest way to get the answer is to test it yourself. All you need is a voltmeter to get an accurate reading on the strength and charging power of your car battery.
The car lights and the ignition need to be off before you can accurately read the battery power. Pop the hood, locate the battery compartment, clean the battery terminals if corroded with a small wire brush. The positive cable of the voltmeter is red, and will clamp to the positive terminal on the battery first. Next, the black cable, negative, gets clamped to the negative end of the battery.
The meter will show above 12.4 if the car battery has plenty of charging power left. Under 12.2 should be reason for concern. You could always come to Patterson Hyundai and our service crew can test the car battery in no time at all.
